To me,
You are neither a strange foreign land on the map,
nor the hometown of Dr. Bethune,
which is ten thousand kilometers away.
You are the land under my feet.
You are the towering Rocky Mountains
I have climbed up,
The snow trails in steep Mount Tremblant
where I have slipped down,
the fairyland and green fields
in which I have walked by.
You are red and yellow maple leaves
all over the mountains,
the tweet birds in the forest,
And the wild geese that head up
walking slowly across the road.
You are yellow school buses running on time,
Cups of tasty Tim Horton coffee.
You are the greetings
from strangers during a walk,
And the smiling faces
that I encounter everyday.
Although the winter is pretty long here,
My heart is always like a breeze in spring.
The year of 2020 is half gone,
I have walked through unforgettable
hard days with you.
But I do believe
That there is no snow that won’t be melted.
Here we are, the people who live peacefully,
And who are proud and humble.
Here we are, the people who are warmhearted and friendly,
And who are ordinary and glorious.
The rare and grace, that we can enjoy everyday,
Are the dazzling festival fireworks in the sky of night,
Canada, May we vent out the words
from the most inner hearts
Happy Canada Day!
